Jadi Ejen Insurans Atau Unit Trust Lebih Baik?

Ni Raju, ex-colleague masa kerja bank dulu. Kat tangan dia tu bukan telur ye. Memang tangan dia besar gitu. (tolong jangan bandingkan tangan saya dengan tangan beliau. tengok tangan dia je k! ) Dia personal trainer. Body macam Captain America (tinggi, pinggang kecik & muscular). Saya ikut tips dia dalam 2 hari je dah drop 3kg. Huhuhu… kalau ada sesiapa area KL nak body cantik bolehlah tanya dia:

OK back to our story. Dulu saya pernah tertanya-tanya, “buat takaful ke unit trust (UT) lagi bagus ek?”, saya takde jawapan & tak tau nak tanya siapa. Last-last saya buat dua-dua & dua-dua pun melingkup. Hahaha…
.
Baru-baru ni Raju jumpa saya utk mintak nasihat pasal bisnes part-time. Dia dalam dilema nak buat insurans, unit trust atau kedua-duanya. So, inilah nasihat saya kepada beliau sebagai seorang bekas pekerja bank + bekas ejen takaful + bekas ejen unit trust. (semua “bekas”. nampak sangat aku ni tak power kan ).

Saya share di sini sebab saya percaya anda boleh belajar banyak perkara di dalam perbualan ini…

SOALAN : BISNES MACAM NI BANYAK PERSAINGAN

JAWAPAN : Semua bisnes pun banyak persaingan. Kalau u fikir sangat pasal competition, u takkan buat apa-apa. Instead, differentiate urself by way of branding, service, free gift, buat free talk for awareness etc. Tell me, berapa orang famous Indian insurance agent u kenal? (dia jawab “tak ada”). So, why don’t u be that guy? Belajar marketing & ilmu bisnes, then within a short time people will be crazy for ur service.

Tell me, apa awareness level for insurance among Indians? For Malay, kesedaran pentingnya insurans / takaful ni sangat rendah. Rasanya 10% sahaja. Ada 90% lagi untapped market. Most are not insured. I think for Indians also the same. So, why worry so much about competition? There’s always a bite for everyone.

JAWAPAN : Of course lah insurance agent bro

SOALAN : REALLY? WHY? UNIT TRUST TAK BAGUS KE?
.
JAWAPAN PANJANG SAYA :
.
(1) OBJECTIVE: People invest in unit trust for PROFIT. Can u guarantee they can make profit? What happens if market crash? You won’t be blamed, but won’t you feel guilty because you asked them to invest in the 1st place? I became UT agent in 2007. 2008 market crash after PRU 12. Clients paper loss > 40%. Not to mention they already loss 5-6% when they invest due to fees. I cannot bear the guilty feeling, that’s why I quit.

However, people take insurance (atau takaful) for PROTECTION. Ada investment part for every insurance product, but that’s not their priority. Their priority is “kalau ada apa-apa jadi, someone need to help me & my family”. See the difference?

So, boleh you guarantee your client confirm make money from UT? (dia jawab “TAK”). Boleh you guarantee your client will be protected by the company u represent? (dengan syarat terma & syarat claim dipenuhi). Dia jawab “SURE”. There you go, better do something you can control VS you can’t control.

(2) WORKLOAD: Jual insurans ni buat kerja 1x saja. My agent I sign-up dengan dia tahun 2012. Until now less than 5 times saja saya jumpa dia. Kalau jadi UT agent, investment thru EPF is once every 3 months. And everytime client ada duit u need to approach him to invest some more. So everytime dia mau invest, u kena jumpa klien. Banyak kerja lah macam tu kan?

(3) LUMAYAN: U tahu kan insurans ni buat kerja 1x, tapi income dapat setiap bulan selama 6 tahun? (dia jawab “tahu”). How cool is that?! U get commission everytime client pay their monthly premium (client need protection, so they will force themselves to pay. anyway, insurance is a form of long term savings too. Duit tak burn pun, unless Personal Accident punya insurance). If u promote UT, u get commission only when client invest.

(4) INCOME RATIO: Let say client invest RM10,000, u know how much u get right? Only RM275+! (2.75%, ni rate tahun 2007 dulu la utk ejen). But, for insurance, u get > 100% over a period of 6 years! Even for premium of RM100 per month (saya yakin ramai yg mampu), ur commission is RM30-35 (30-35%) for the first year. 2nd year i think its 25%. 3rd year 15%. As long as client pay their premiums u’ll get ur share.

Bila dia cakap agency dia bagi 20% for first year, terus saya cakap “u punya agency makan ur commission. 1st year should be 30-35%. try ask around. mungkin lebih baik u join agency lain”.

(5) SAFETY OF FUNDS: Client invest UT, maybe they will lose money. Right? Tapi if they buy insurance, they will be assured of protection and jika tak ada apa2 claim after 20-30 years they can get back their money + returns (if any). So, in a way it’s a kind of savings lah for client. If invest UT, salah timing, salah produk, maybe ur client akan rugi.

(6) THE BASE OF FINANCIAL PYRAMID: Ada 3 level. Bawah sekali insurance. Tengah2 tu savings. Atas sekali paling kecil ialah investment. If u save & invest, anything bad happen, semua tu akan hangus. But, if u protect urself (melalui insurans / takaful), anything bad happen, ur savings & investment takkan terusik. Insurans cover mahhh

(7) POTENTIAL: Sebut pasal UT, most people dah pun pernah melabur UT. Contoh paling mudah ASB lah for Bumiputera. Tapi, untuk insurans, kesedaran tu masih lagi rendah sampai ke hari ni. It really need some booster. Big money lies in the insurance industry. You should go for it.

SOALAN : KALAU I BUAT DUA-DUA LAGI BAGUS KAN?

JAWAPAN : No. Lagi teruk. Fokus lah! Masih ramai yg memerlukan insurans / takaful di Malaysia ni. U can be a hero and change that fact. Furthermore, why buat kerja yg bagi komisen sikit? Fokus pada komisen yg banyak kan lagi bagus. Lagipun, RM100 for insurans ramai boleh afford. Kalau invest RM1000 in UT ur komisen RM27.50, itu pun dapat 1x saja tau. Insurans u dapat 72x wooo (6 tahun @ 72 bulan).

SOALAN : WHAT IS YOUR TIPS TO BECOME A SUCCESSFUL AGENT?

JAWAPAN : Bisnes yg MEMBANTU ORANG LAIN / MENYELESAIKAN MASALAH adalah bisnes yg paling lumayan. See urself from that perspective. Instead of u ajak orang becoz u nak komisen, u should ajak mereka take insurans to protect their wealth, dan supaya waris tidak hidup susah di kemudian hari. Also, if nothing happens, it will be a form of long term savings for them for retirement. They got nothing to lose. Fokus on that, the money will come by itself. This is called SOFT-SELLING. Focus on sharing & helping, put ur self-interest behind. Again, trust me, THE MONEY WILL COME BY ITSELF. ☺️

    • 6 – 12 bulan, bergantung kpd kerajinan 🙂 sebulan kena submit kes monthly contribution dalam RM30,000. so kalau komisen 35%, tahun pertama dapat lah RM10,500
